FIREBALL RUN

Fireball Run Adventurally

Fort Dodge has a proud tradition of hosting great events every year. This year Fort Dodge is one of eight cities selected for inclusion into FIREBALL RUN: Big Country, an adventure-experience series distributed on Amazon Prime.

FIREBALL RUN has an even greater mission.  Their awareness campaign, The Race to Recover America’s Missing Children, assigns each team a child missing.  To date, FIREBALL RUN’s campaign has resulted in the successful recovery of 49 children. Team Fort Dodge’s goal is to raise awareness for Eugene Martin. Eugene went missing on August 12, 1984, as he delivered newspapers in Des Moines.

Fort Dodge will have a team in the Fireball Run.  Fort Dodge Mayor, Matt Bemrich and Matt Johnson, Fort Dodge Ford, Lincoln & Toyota will represent our region. The public can help Team Fort Dodge by voting for them at http://www.fireballrun.com/events/2017-big-country/teams/fort-dodger.

Throughout the community, committees are planning some fantastic events for the public to enjoy. Celebration on Central is scheduled to take place on Sept. 27 from 3-7 pm on Central Avenue between 10th Street and the City Square.  The Fireball Run teams will be there to interact with the public, talk about their missing child in the Race to Recover Iowa’s Missing Children, turn-in their points, provide items for the local charity selected by production and display their unique vehicles.  In addition to that Market on Central will be hosting their final market of the season, the Karl King Band will perform at 5:30 p.m and local car enthusiasts will display their classic vehicles. Our local organizations are providing kid’s activities, hosting a bike rodeo, and the Iowa Army National Guard climbing wall with other equipment. There will be additional live music and a missing child’s wall.

There will be a Fiery Fort Dodge Send-off on Sept. 28 morning from 7:30-9 am at Veterans Memorial Park on Central Avenue and 12th Street. See all the Fireball Run teams as they line-up to leave Fort Dodge and hear the starting signal as only the Iowa Army National Guard can provide! Two howitzer cannons will be signaling the start of Day 6.
